How have you remained creative during lockdown

Although a very strange and surreal situation I have been able to spend a lot more time creating and making than I would usually. I started scaling down, experimenting with everyday materials that were readily available to me. This is when I discovered Polymer clay- it’s a great malleable material that you can mix to create a whole spectrum of colours. I started making little playful objects which I turned into earrings that I have been selling.

Has your creative practice changed at all during lock down?

As well as the development of my earrings and mini sculptures. I have been delving into the wonderful world of digital sculpting which I started having fun with in my last year of uni. A lot of our interaction has been through screens within the digital realm throughout lockdown. I thought it fitting to create my work in this way. Pushing the boundaries between the real and the virtual.

How have you found it working from home?

At first, I found it hard to motivate myself due to the lack of structure despite the increase in time. However, you just have to adapt and start creating your own time schedule. It has been a great opportunity for me to spend time learning how to use different 3d modelling software, which I would struggle to find time to do under normal circumstances.

Where have you been able to get your inspiration from during lockdown?

My inspiration is forever changing but mostly derives from my surroundings and everyday objects, even something as simple as the pattern on a cushion, pushing the boundaries of these objects to create curious forms. During my daily walks, I would make sure to take pictures of anything that interested me that I could later develop further.

Do you have any advice for those people that are getting creative at home during this time?

Try not to get frustrated if things don’t go according to plan, sometimes these ‘mistakes’ can be just as interesting and take you in an unexpected, exciting new direction.
